We are committed to protecting the environment and work in line with our environmental management system and are aiming to achieve the accredited ISO 14001.
The policy supplies detailed information on our commitment to the environment in which we live as well as where we work. We understand the key role as a contractor to minimise waste and optimise recycling where possible. We have set out clear goals and target areas where we can make a difference, namely:

-
Reduce waste – We currently monitor all waste that goes to landfill from our sites. We aim for a 'Zero to landfill'. Currently, we have achieved our goal of 100% of our waste is being diverted from landfill, with ever improving management processes we are continually monitoring to maintain this figure.

-
Reduce CO2 footprint – We monitor electricity, fuel and water usage by our site presence - monitoring and looking at new technologies to assist us with improving the impact on the environment.

-
From top to bottom - We also understand how the back office operations for our sites have an effect on the environment. We utilise low power technology in our office including lighting, heating and recycling.

SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN & MATERIALS
We have a sustainability policy that highlights how we use sustainable materials where ever possible and ensure that our supply chain comply with our expectations and methods of construction, including:
-
Using recycled crushed brick/concrete for temporary roads and hard standings
-
Designing out waste
-
Concrete blocks with high recycled content, and beam floors with cement and aggregate substitution
-
Thermal insulation manufactured without the use of, nor containing, CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs and HFAs as blowing agents
-
Water based paints for internal painting
-
Paints with long life – 10 years external or 20 years internal between coatings
-
Existing subsoil as part of reinforced earth retaining walls
-
Recycled masonry or concrete from any existing buildings or foundations
-
Timber sourced from sustainable forests (FSC Approved)
-
By making structures more efficient through design - reducing high energy use in manufacture such as steel.
