Grace Academy Darlaston is one of thirteen Primary and Secondary schools who work collaboratively as part of the Trove Learning Trust. Located just north of Birmingham, the building was originally constructed as part of the BSF programme and was completed in 2014. The brief was to infill one of the three atriums (building split into three wings) of the existing building to form a new class space and storage. New acoustic partitions we used to infill between the existing concrete frame. Fire rated glazed screens allow light to penetrate into the newly formed corridors to the side of the classroom. Existing services and sprinklers were adapted to suit the new layout and new acoustic wall panelling was installed alongside the existing panels to give a seamless look.
